The Stations of the Cross These sculptures, placed on the walls circling the sanctuary are the scriptural stations chosen by Pope John Paul II for Good Friday of 1991. To envision Jesus in each agonizing depiction was something I could only do with the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Each look, gesture, placement of a hand, fold in the garments worn by each figure - all of it sculptured as to how it might have been along that road to Calvary. It was important to me to sculpture each station with as much intimacy as possible between the figures. There was humanity reacting to Jesus. Jesus loving them in return. I hoped that the persons praying the stations would be drawn into this interaction of the suffering of Our Lord and His love for each of us. Suzanne Young, Commissioned Artist
