The Chapel Walk and the Gardens

This window looks out on the gardens to the east through a sand blasted door. They continue the design of the lines of the painted branches with soft, misty sand blasting, and lattice pattern, and cross. One of my first ideas for the chapel was that it would be like a medieval cloister garden. The lattice on the door is like a trellis, the emblem on the east wall includes a butterfly, symbol of the Resurrection.
(I went to the butterfly exhibit at the Bronx Zoo to study it).

Another dimension of the Chapel Walk

  • There is an option to donate a brick on this walk, complete with a personal inscription, which will daily remind our elderly sisters of the fact that you care for them.
  • In addition, each inscription is added to our prayer list so that loved ones are continually remembered in the Sister’s daily prayers.

Thus it becomes a place where the sisters and members of the universal congregation come together in spirit for prayer, for thanks and to honor our Lord with one voice.
